Background Overview
As renewable energy penetration in Canada continues to increase - especially with the popularity of distributed photovoltaic (PV) systems - grid volatility and peak-to-valley price differentials are becoming more and more of an issue. A commercial and industrial park decided to introduce a battery storage system to solve the multiple problems of high electricity costs, insufficient green power consumption, and emergency backup power. Eventually, the park chose GSL Energy's high-voltage lithium battery system, which, together with Sol-Ark hybrid inverters, formed a highly efficient and intelligent energy management solution, providing solid support for the park's energy transition.

1、High-voltage battery system improves energy efficiency
GSL Energy's 120kWh high-voltage rack battery uses LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cells with a DC voltage range covering 600-1000V, which perfectly matches the wide voltage input characteristics of Sol-Ark inverters, greatly reducing energy conversion losses and ensuring that the overall system efficiency reaches over 95%.
The modularized design not only meets the current demand, but also supports flexible expansion, which can be expanded to 500kWh in the future according to the growth of electricity consumption in the park.
2、Intelligent compatibility and energy management
Sol-Ark hybrid inverters have built-in advanced energy management algorithms to realize real-time optimized scheduling of PV power generation, energy storage and load. The system supports the “self-generation and self-consumption + peak and valley arbitrage” mode, which is expected to save about 25,000 CAD per year for the park's electricity bill.
Remote monitoring and fault diagnosis:
Built-in remote monitoring and fault diagnosis mechanism makes operation and maintenance more efficient, reduces long-term operation and maintenance costs, and ensures that the system always maintains the best operating condition.
3、Security and Reliability Guarantee
The battery system is equipped with a multi-layer thermal management system and BMS protection mechanism, and has passed UL 9540A certification, which is able to operate stably in extreme low and high temperatures, and is fully adapted to the Canadian cold climate.
Rapid Response & Backup Power Supply:
Combined with Sol-Ark's Rapid Response feature, the system seamlessly switches to standby mode in the event of a grid failure, ensuring continuous power to critical loads.
